Yesterday I bought some five dollar ginger snaps.
Yep. Five Dollars
Nope. Not from an overpriced nearby grocery store. Instead from a random man on the sidewalk.
I was trying so hard to be tough and focused and walk past this father and son standing in the heat but when he called me a pretty lady and asked me to help his son buy a uniform I just couldn't resist. It's rare that I have cash on me, much to the disappointment of Mama H, but when I do, I just feel like such a liar walking on by.
So I stopped and fumbled in my wallet and learned that this kid is a 2nd baseman and it will be his first year playing and he's excited and he really wants to hit a home run.
Doesn't it melt your heart?
And he had this big toothy smile and these ratty tennis shoes and I do like Ginger Snaps and well, you know, there went five dollars.
I asked the kid to remember me when he hits all his home runs and his dad told me he wouldn't forget a face like mine.
A little creepy.
But hey now I've got snacks for my desk. Go team.
