Sleepy Time

When PDG was first born, I could watch him sleep for hours.  And he did. He ate, slept, dirtied his diaper, and repeated.

Oh, he would sleep most anywhere.  Those first three weeks I understood the term "sleep like a baby." I could put him on the couch, in the bassinet, propped in his boppy, anywhere.  Sure when he was unsupervised at night he only slept on his back, as the doctors insist, but during the day he could be on his side, tummy, or curled in my lap.  Anywhere.

The advice goes that mom should sleep when baby sleeps.  It's surprisingly easier said than done, though I did my best.  I'd try to close my eyes, but sometimes I wanted nothing more than to peek at his angelic face. I'd pull out my fanciphone and snap photo after photo after photo.

As weeks have passed, naptimes have become a tiny bit more structured, but there are still few things I love more than watching that precious dreaming face.

  1. Adorbs. I love sleeping babies. It is the waking up part that wrecks my whole day. kidding. except sometimes.

  2. The waking doesn't so much wreck my days as it does my nights... Especially since he's proven he CAN sleep 8 hours, he just generally won't... :)
