A Day with LO

Oh my goodness I want to write about our Christmas Card Photo Shoot 2011 so badly, but J-Man has me sworn to secrecy until they hit your doorsteps early next week.  Sadly the card we chose didn't qualify for same-day printing so I have to be, what's that word again?  Oh, right, patient.

Patience is not currently one of my highest rated virtues.

At any rate, we had a blast, and pictures will be up soon.  Maybe you won't find them as entertaining as we have.  There's something about our generation that loves looking at still pictures of ourselves, right?  So if you don't, just indulge me.

In the meantime, I'll write about another short moment from the past week.

I got to go visit dear KB and see her little one, whom we'll just call LO.  I watched her sit in the sunlight, rocking him quietly.  Feeding him gently when the smacking of his lips made his desires perfectly clear.  I listened to how her voice changed, ever so slightly, when talking to him, and the way she lit up when he cooed back at her.

We laughed at his very explosive diaper that nearly invaded his back as well.  Then, quite necessarily, stood by as she washed his hair, his face, his precious little body with his tiny fingers and toes.  She showed me how the nurses say to dry his curly head of hair.  We took in his smile and satisfaction at so much attention.

Then, she let me hold LO, her darling little guy.  I couldn't help but imagine when PDG arrives.  I thought of how they'd play together and laugh together and how KB and I will have our hands full.  I considered what PDG's tiny hands will look like.  I wondered if he'd have my skinny fingers or J-Man's long lashes.  I know it's going to be tiring, but I can't wait until I get to spend those early weeks, rocking him in the sunlight, in awe of his miraculousness.

For now, I'm blessed to get to see LO grow healthier and stronger day by day, learn tricks from KB, and keep wondering just what the future has in store for us G's.
