NC Road Trip

Well the G's have survived our first road trip.  You may remember that we tackled planes for Memorial Day, but so far our longest drive has just been the 90 minute one to see Mama and Papa H.  This weekend, though, it was time to go see Big Sis in North Carolina, and some other friends down that way as well.

That picture, naturally, was taken at the start.  You know, before lovely Friday DC traffic on 95.  Before needing to stop and nurse twice on what should have been a four hour drive.  But hey, we got through.  Minimal tears.  Definitely some looks of "why am I still strapped in this thing?!" Amusement by the newest carseat toy.  J-Man as chauffer with me and PDG riding in the back.

The weekend was a whirlwind, but the good kind.  PDG witnessed his first hibachi cooking and boy did his eyes light up with the fire!  He showed off his rolling skills for his aunt and took in all the other babies at a cafe over by East Campus.

Plus, he got some daddy time while Big Sis and I went to see Chicago at DPAC.  What a great theater! And sorry to any Christie Brinkley fans out there, but I'm pretty sure the fact that she got sick and we were sent a replacement who had this role once on Broadway worked to our advantage.  As the sweet elderly couple who sat next to us said, "I'm not sure she could've memorized all those lines and dance steps."  But, to be nicer, while she probably could've, this replacement lady was more fabulous and charming than I think she could've mustered.

And, a little inside joke for my Big Sis. -- "You know what I like?" (Pause) "Our bed."  Oh the people you overhear that just make you feel smarter by their existence :)

  1. I had to laugh at the inside joke. :) Is that Queen Latifah?
