I mentioned it in a previous post, but I made a real resolution this year. I know that most people, myself included, don't stay true to resolutions, but you never know.
After all, in 2000, when feeling overwhelmed by ennui (is ennui concrete enough to overwhelm someone?) I decided to write in a journal daily and did so for four years straight - missing less than ten days total. I can do this.
My blogging resolution is 8 per month. I'll probably write 2-3 at a time on Sundays, which used to be my calmest evenings of the week, and schedule them ahead. I don't want to lie and act like I'll really master mid-week blogging with any consistency while chasing a baby, eating late dinners with J-Man, washing bottles, packing daycare bags and saving some sanity to lesson plan.
But, anyway, happy new year! I'm so glad I got to celebrate it with friends old and new (and even a baby who refused to sleep - not mine, PDG was pretty well knocked out in his pack-n-play)
We ate grapes for good luck, toasted to new beginnings, great memories, and other cliche-yet-appropriate concepts. There was even a little bit of dancing. The baby night owl included. His moves definitely rival, if not surpass, my own. Not that it's that hard.
At 6am, when PDG woke up for a morning snack and snuggle, I couldn't have been happier for a new year with my family.
Ok, I could've been happier at 8am. Or even 10am. But I'm not greedy.
May 2013 be as good to you and yours and me and mine as 2012 has been. If not better.
(and wouldn't it be fun to have a little belly to rub or another baby to snuggle this time next year? did i write that? did i mean that? ok, I did. i'll let y'all know if 2013 brings us any such fortune)
HAPPY New Year. Smiling is the best, isn't it as evident above :)
