Our little PDG is now a big ol' one-year-old. Not walking, and only minimally talking, but no more teeny-tiny baby G.
It's crazy to think that this time last year we were in the hospital still, wondering if our baby was half deaf (darn hearing screen!), exhausted and excited and terrified about taking our infant home the next day.
Now here we are.
I'll write more about the birthday soon enough, but here are the updates on his growth.
Height: 30.5in (76%). Weight 22lb 5oz (67%). Head (56%). Six teeth (4 top, 2 bottom)
His only words are uh-oh, and a finally linked "dada" when trying to talk on the phone or crawl after J-Man. This is the one area the doc would like us to keep monitoring and focusing on. Probably because PDG chose not to make a single babble during the whole appointment, making it seem like his mama's stories were all lies and he was secretly a very observant mute.
No steps, but still climbing, cruising, pushing the push toy and walking while holding hands.
Interests: the sock drawer, putting mr. giraffe - the bedtime pacifier - pretty much anywhere and then taking him back, trying to stack items that aren't stackable, all foods ever, trying to get into the cupboard under the kitchen sink, bathtime and the sea turtle, putting things into other things (especially his spoons into bowls to 'help' while mama cooks), being upside-down, did I mention eating?, real dogs, listening to mama say "moo" "woof" and "baa," the moment J-Man comes through the door after work, the toilet flushing, brushing his teeth, and making diaper changes a battle of will, strength, and balance.
Dislikes: when his plate is empty, being held sitting still, wearing shoes, using a paci during the daytime anymore, being spoon-fed, and getting his face wiped
What a year it's been, and how far we've come. Here's hoping this next one has as many laughs and cuddles with just a few less blood-curdling shrieks.
Yay! I especially enjoyed the "interests" section! So so tiny in those first photos. Hope to see you all again before too long!
ReplyDeleteParker made me in 2012 :) Love that kid and how he brightens everyone's life.
ReplyDeleteIt should say "made me smile". I loved seeing his growth. So much can change in a year and he was such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that the thumb sucking and half-deaf may be from someone that Parker loves dearly. LOL.
