Papa H Comes to Town

Last night Papa H came to town!

Momentous, I know.  Now he's come to visit a few times since J-Man and I moved back east, but usually there's a grander mission involved. This time I just invited him to dinner, and he accepted.

Well, there's a little more to it.  Mama H is in Utah visiting the most-adorable-kids-ever, aka my nephews, and Papa H has been keeping busy on the homefront.

I'd like to dedicate this little entry to my favorite dad in the world, and share the top five things that always happen when Papa H stays the night.

1) He fixes stuff.  It's fabulous.  This time, the annoying running toilet.  Not that J-Man and I are incapable of our own DIY projects, we just aren't quite as proactive as maybe we could/should be.  Why fix the toilet if you can just flush, wash hands, then jiggle once more (and give all your guests the same directions)?  Seriously though, it's really fantastic

2) He shakes his head and says "girrrrl" about something missing from your cabinets or fridge.  This time, I only had 2% milk.  (I got him to admit that in cereal it tasted the same).  Other common culprits include sliced bread and sodas.  What can I say, I haven't mastered food storage quite like Mama H yet.

3) He pretends he doesn't want dessert, until you tell him you have oreos.  (unless of course that was the missing item from your cabinet). Who can turn down oreos?  Even the golden ones are yummy.

4) He, almost always, refuses to play a game.  Even if you later convince him through a sad face and a pretty please.  And this always makes me want to play games so, much, more.

5) He laughs.  Which makes me laugh.  And J-Man laugh.  And the whole house feels happy because when Papa H laughs, it's a real, from the heart, that's-really-funny-I-can't-stop-laughing laugh

So in short, this was a perfect mini-visit and I was sad to see him pull off this morning.  But happy that Mama H will be back tonight because you can tell he misses her.
