Date Night
Recently J-Man and I went on a double date. On a boat.
I know everyone says, "when you have kids, make time for yourselves. Go on dates." I think I heard the advice, but didn't really listen.
It's true, when you have this tiny being that is demanding (and loud when demands aren't met), it's easy to forget to keep making the kinds of memories that got you to wanting a kid with your husband in the first place.
I feel lucky - J-Man is pretty awesome - but even so, a date night was just what I needed/wanted.
So we got all gussied up, I had a new dress, J-Man liked it enough to match his tie, and we set sail on the Potomac with KB and her husband.
Our timing couldn't have been better as the next day Hurricane Sandy started to roll into the mid-Atlantic. For the night, though, it was just us. Laughing. Dancing. Eating. Holding hands. And some inappropriate joking to keep us all from getting too mushy and romantic.
